From the South
Leave the A1 joining the A68 (at junction 58). Turn left at the roundabout just after Firtree onto the A689 and pass through Wolsingham, Frosterley and Stanhope to the outskirts of Stanhope. Turn right by the Cottage and C2C route sign on the brow of the incline.
From the East
From the A1 take the A690 to Crook. After leaving Crook at the roundabout, take the A689 passing through Wolsingham, Frosterley and Stanhope to the outskirts of Stanhope. Turn right by the Cottage and C2C route sign on the brow of the incline.
From the North
From the A1 take the A69 towards Hexham. Turn left at the Roundabout onto the A68 (signposted Darlington), turn right at the B6278 to Edmundbyers and Stanhope. At the T-junction in Stanhope turn right onto the A689 (signposted Killhope Mine). In a quarter of a mile turn right at the Cottage and C2C route sign on the brow of the incline.
From the West
From Alston follow the A689 through Cowshill, St Johns Chapel, Westgate, Eastgate to just before Stanhope, turn left by the Cottage and C2C route sign.
